November in the Black Hills is starting out with some beautiful fall weather, so this afternoon Amy, the girls and I went for a drive through the Hills and a hike around Mt. Rushmore. While we were there we struck up a conversation with a woman from Wisconsin who had just flown in to work with some of her clients this week in Rapid City.
A small perk related to being a building contractor for the past nine years is free subscriptions to magazines like Remodeling Magazine. In their July 2009 issue they ran an article titled, “Web Marketing Makeover: In slow economic times, an updated website could be bringing in more business than any other lead source.”
People are starting to ask me about Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites and how they can use them for their businesses or organizations. Here’s another article from Remodeling Magazine called “Ultimate Word-of-Mouth: The ultimate word-of-mouth advertising engine.” In this article Joe Stoddard gives specific examples of how remodelers (or almost any business) can use Facebook to effectively market their business.
Currently on the home page of this website there is a short article called “Twitter and Business,” and in that article I linked to an article on Twitter’s website called Business 101. In that article one of the businesses using Twitter in innovative ways is a coffee shop in Houston that uses Twitter to let their customers order before they arrive.
